Here in Denver we’re getting ready to bring the heat back and, after an intentionally slow month, I’m starting new projects and picking the pace back up. Things always tend to pick up for me towards the end of summer and back to school season. I cannot wait to dig back in refreshed and focused. But I digress…

April was about 30 seconds long, I swear. So much has been going on the past few weeks that it went by in the blink of an eye. I swear I didn’t do this as an April Fools joke, you guys! I sat down the other night to create the wallpaper and my brain just didn’t want to do anything that wasn’t silly. So I ended up doodling llamas and here we are. I call this masterpiece Poorly Drawn Llamas and, honestly, I love it so this is what you’re getting.

Onwards to March, my friends! Logically I know that February is the shortest month, but March still somehow always creeps up on me. This is about the time of year when winter weather starts getting really old for me and I’m basking in any ray of sunshine that I can find (picture me lounging on the floor with my belly exposed like a cat). At least the days are starting to get longer and I get to update my digital screens with a new wallpaper.

Hello fellow humans! We’ve made it one month into 2021 and at the very least can say that we’re still here, right? Traditionally February is the month of romance + love, but if I’m being totally honest, I’ve never liked Valentine’s Day. So pretty hearts and flowers were never in the cards. Instead I went the polar opposite direction and took out all my frustrations to make this stabby rainbow beaut’ to express my love for y’all. What does this say about me? Who the heck knows?! But I’m going with a ‘murder what’s not serving you’ theme for the month and I invite you to join.

Here we are in 2021!! Even though I obviously know that there isn’t much difference between yesterday and today, it still somehow feels like a clean slate full of possibilities. Without the baggage of 2020. The time between the holidays and the New Year are always full of weird feelings for me, and this year was exceptionally wonky in my world. So I’m looking forward to getting back to routine and waltzing into the year with hope + cautious optimism that it’ll be better and that I can be better.

Hello and hold onto your butts! We’re in the homestretch of 2020 and holiday anticipation is in full force. I always love coming up with new themed ideas for the free wallpaper patterns and the December one can be especially challenging when I don’t wanna go for a full Christmas idea. But with this green + blush + cherry color palette, I have to say I’m feeling pretty jolly.

I woke up this morning and realized it was the first of a new month and I hadn’t even thought about creating the wallpaper design. This is the first time that’s happened in the last almost 8 years and it feels both liberating and terrifying to know that no one is here to hold me accountable but myself. And then when I sat down to work on it, my computer decided to refuse to work and I spent 3 hours with Apple support trying to figure it out. Because the universe thinks it’s funny to mess with us.

Hello! It’s almost fall and we’re still here! I call that a win in my book. July and August have been real wild for me, so I’m looking forward to slowing down hopefully a bit as the weather cools down and as I book out the rest of the year (I’m booking for November already…what?!!). Hello fellow humans! I’m happy to announce that I’ve made it through July hanging on by a thread. It’s been a crazy month filled with 90+ degree days, lots of toddler chasing, and trying to keep on top of client work while maintaining some semblance of sanity. But let’s get to the reason you’re here.

Hello and happy July! I hope everyone’s been hanging in there through this summer. It looks much different than I’m sure we all imagined. For me it’s been all about backyard playtime, warm evening walks, and dinners on patios. (The patio is our own and we’re making the best use out of it since we moved in 7 years ago.) The summer is already flying by. Probably because living through what feels like a never-ending pandemic makes time move in strange ways!

Hey hey hey! Summer is officially here along with 90 degree days, afternoon thunderstorms, and more watermelon than a small family could possible eat before it goes bad. My time has been limited for work lately (read more below for an update) and client projects are always my priority. So the free June digital wallpaper was the result of an instagram poll to determine the color of the month — it’s coral and I’m obsessed with it! — and a quick + dirty exploration of texture on my iPad. And I’m surprisingly pleased with how it turned out!

Happy May! How you guys hanging in there? I’m honestly having the hardest time writing this right now because I have no idea what to say. We’ve been quarantined and staying home for the last 6+ weeks now and it doesn’t feel like the end is anywhere in sight. So I just keep reminding myself that this won’t be forever, even if it seems like it. And maybe you can tell yourself that, too, if it helps you keep going.

Hellooooo and happy April! Weird times are upon us, friends. Weird times indeed. I feel like I’ve had to start every email for the past few weeks with “hope you’re sane and healthy!” and all my clients seem to be handling things differently. Some are hyper-productive and some have fallen off the face of the earth leaving me to assume they’re obviously living that bubble boy life 🤷‍♀️

Hello March! It’s good to see you because that means we’re on our way to spring and that’s what I’m really looking forward to — sorry, Winter. The free wallpaper design for March came out of 1) laziness because we’re heading to Arizona this week and I just realized that it’ll be March by the time I’m back in the office, and 2) because my kid is learning to scribble and that’s such a fun development! If I’m being honest, he mostly eats the crayons instead of using them, but that’s beside the point.

We finally made it through January, friends! It was one heckuva long month but here we are on the other side and I already feel better. January is a tough one for me trying to get back into the swing of things after the craziness of all the holidays and the bleakness of the season. So I’m glad to have made it through and I’m looking forward to the rest of the year.

I really like the concept of choosing a word for the new year to focus on what’s important. So for 2020 I’ve chosen the word realign. My goals these days are more about creating the life + feelings that I want to experience rather than trying to attain something. Over the last year I’ve had to redefine what makes me successful, motivated and essentially who I am as a person. And I’m so excited to keep working on it this year.
